Meet the Team Behind the Festival
Keynsham Music Festival wouldn’t be here today without the tireless efforts of a small core team and the many volunteers who have given their time, skills and enthusiasm over the years.
Core Team

Mike May
Chair, Keynsham Music Festival
Mike May has been Chair of the Keynsham Music Festival for the past ten years and is one of the key people behind the event’s growth into one of the largest community festivals in the South West.
Mike moved to Keynsham from Knowle West in Bristol when he was three years old and has lived here ever since. He grew up on the Park Estate and still counts many childhood friends among his close circle today. It was also in Keynsham that he met his wife, Mary, at the youth club – they married at Queen’s Road Church 54 years ago.
Although he never learned to play an instrument, music has always been a big part of Mike’s life. Growing up in a remarkable era for live music, he saw legendary artists including Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix perform live.
Before dedicating much of his time to the festival, Mike worked in IT, travelling widely and working with teams around the world. Today, he is passionate about bringing the community together through the festival, which is run entirely by volunteers and supported by local businesses, groups and residents.
When he’s not working on the festival, Mike enjoys photography and attends a weekly art class where he is learning to paint with oils.

Andy Wait
Andy has been a member of the Keynsham Music Festival committee since 1999. Over the past 27 years, he has taken on a variety of roles, primarily focusing on financial management, as well as occasionally hosting during the festival itself. During that time, he has witnessed the festival grow and develop into the event it is today.
He has seen firsthand how much the Keynsham community values its Music Festival. What began as a local event has grown into one of the country’s leading donation-based festivals, known for the quality of its performances and the professionalism of everyone involved.
As both a Bath & North East Somerset and Keynsham Town Councillor, Andy regards the Music Festival as one of the finest examples of a community event, bringing people together and showcasing the very best of the town.

Rich Weymouth
Richard has more than 20 years of experience working with a wide range of licensed activities and events, including the Keynsham Music Festival. As part of the festival team, he helps oversee the many licensed aspects of the event, from alcohol sales and site capacity to sound levels and safety requirements.
The festival is organised and delivered entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers, and Richard works closely with them to ensure everything operates within the guidelines set by the council, police and national regulations. Careful planning and coordination behind the scenes help make the festival both safe and enjoyable for everyone who attends.
For Richard, the festival is also something deeply personal. Having grown up locally and played for Keynsham Rugby Football Club, he has fond memories of attending the festival as a child with family and friends. Being part of its continued growth and success is something he is incredibly proud of.
Keynsham Music Festival truly offers something for everyone — from children’s soft play to orchestral performances, BMX stunts to pottery workshops, line dancing to live music from some of the best emerging artists around. It isn’t just a festival; it’s a celebration of the community and a reflection of the people who make Keynsham such a special place.

Caitlin Brennan
I’m a Keynsham Town Councillor. Being elected in 2019 led to my involvement with the Keynsham Music Festival.
I describe myself as a die-hard Keynsham fan, and the festival truly sits at the heart of our town. It is always my favourite event of the year. I struggle to talk about it without becoming emotional because it represents everything that makes Keynsham special.
It’s an incredible, community-led celebration that brings people together and showcases the very best of our town. Seeing everyone united in one place makes me so proud to be part of it.

Tricia Veale
I have always been involved with the entertainment industry, mostly dance.
On leaving school, I worked in London theatres, learning stage management and all the difficulties of weekly rep.
I wanted to perform and was lucky enough to become a professional dancer in London and touring the UK.
Settling in Keynsham after being abroad with my husband, I started Keyford Dancing School, retiring from teaching in 2025 after 52 years. Keyford dancers performed at Keynsham Music Festival from its early days. In 2018, I became involved in the committee, taking over the dance stage after COVID. Something I really enjoy.

Jade Dunbar
Jade Dunbar brings more than 30 years of experience in the events and entertainment industry to the Keynsham Music Festival team. With a background rooted in an eclectic upbringing within a circus family, she developed a lifelong passion for the arts and live performance.
Over the course of her career, Jade has built a strong reputation across circus, theatre, festivals, film and television. Her expertise spans site management, production, stage management, programming and business development, and she is also a respected Health and Safety consultant within the entertainment industry. Known for her calm approach in high-pressure environments, she specialises in complex live productions and technically demanding shows.
Jade is widely recognised for her work as Stage Manager of the Circus Big Top at the Glastonbury Festival, where she has played a key role in supporting and developing new work. She has also helped nurture emerging artists and companies through initiatives such as the Glastonbury Arts Commission.
Previously a founding director of the award-winning circus company Pirates of the Carabina, Jade co-wrote and commissioned the show Flown, which won the Total Theatre Award at the 2013 Edinburgh Festival. Her wider experience includes show calling major live events and working as a Health and Safety consultant for the 2012 Olympic sailing events in Weymouth.
Jade is passionate about supporting culture in all its forms and is committed to helping creative communities thrive. She now brings her experience and energy to Keynsham Music Festival, contributing to its continued growth and development — and adding radio to her already impressive list of live event experience.

Steve Gibbons
Born in West Bromwich—the birthplace of Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy and close to where bands such as Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Slade, and Black Sabbath formed, music has always played a huge role in Steve’s life.
Alongside performing in multiple bands, Steve was a founder of the Mind, Body and Spirit Festival and has organised many charity concerts and festivals supporting organisations including Teenage Cancer Trust, Brockswood Animal Sanctuary, Help Haiti, The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, and many others.
After moving to Keynsham in 2013 to work in the aerospace industry, he quickly became involved with the Keynsham Music Festival. Steve’s involvement has included performing as a solo artist, playing with the local band The Ship Mates, and, more recently, with his current band, Typan. He has also assisted many times as Stage Manager of the acoustic stage at Grounded. In addition, he has on several occasions been a member of the Keynsham Light Opera Group.
Steve is very proud to have served as Stage Manager of the Top Stage for the past three years and looks forward to continuing to support its future growth and ongoing success.
Volunteers
From stewarding and stage support to fundraising, marketing and artist care, our volunteers are the backbone of the festival. The festival wouldn’t be what it is without the countless volunteers who give their time each year.
