Keynsham Music Festival 2024 – Wellbeing Village

The Wellbeing Village makes a welcome return to the family day at the festival.

There will be an impressive mix of local wellbeing providers on offer that you can try out for yourself throughout the day.

Whatever your age or ability level, there will be something suitable for you.

We will be welcoming the University of Bristol for the first time. Come and meet the team to learn about their world leading public health research and have a go at their games that will really make you think.

If you’re looking to learn a new life skill, how about trying your hand at mindful juggling. You will be encouraged to play, move, reflect and learn to juggle in a fun and interactive way.

If the idea of juggling, sends your head into a spin, how about dialling things down with a sound bath to press pause on your other priorities in life,

and immerse yourself in the soothing sounds of gongs and Nepalese singing bowls that will help you relax and unwind.

We don't want the Dads that join us to feel left out, so they'll be encouraged to get involved with their kids for a family yoga session with YogaDad that will be suitable for even the most inflexible man.

Weather permitting; you will be amazed by our team demonstrating different forms of aerial fitness including pole fitness, aerial hoop and FeetUp yoga in our tree-lined outdoor space.

If you’re looking for something less active, why not treat yourself to a free taster session from one of our local massage therapists, reflexologists or reiki practitioners. We will also have a holistic health coach who specialises in women's health offering free consultations.

University of Bristol

University of Bristol

(Gazebo 1)

In the Integrative Epidemiology Unit we look for patterns in health data, behaviour, environmental factors and genetics across large populations. These patterns help us uncover what makes people more or less likely to get different diseases. Our research helps everyone to understand better what causes diseases like cancers, heart disease and diabetes.

We also look at factors that increase risk in pregnancy for some people and explore links between biology and mental health. We work with important population data collection projects including the world-famous Children of the 90s study which was created right here in the Bristol region.

Through a range of activities aimed at all ages, our stall at Keynsham Music Festival gives a flavour of some of the research that we do. Try out our Wheel of Fortune to see the impact of different factors on health risk, learn about inherited factors as you help decorate our Giant Chromosomes, find out what is in our Mystery Box and test your knowledge with our True or False game. And meet some of the real-life scientists who work at the University of Bristol to help improve public health.

Thank you to the students at Broadlands Academy who provided feedback on these activities when we trialled them in a science class in June.

You will find the University of Bristol in a gazebo in the wellbeing village.

Pure Energy Reiki

Pure Energy Reiki

(Gazebo 5)

Hi, I’m Sam, the face behind Pure Energy Reiki.

I am so excited to be offering 15-minute taster Reiki sessions at the Keynsham Music Festival Wellbeing Village this year. Come and say hi!

I am a Reiki Practitioner in Frampton Cotterell.  I was a SEN Teaching Assistant in primary schools for 13 years until I found Reiki, which has changed my life completely.

But what does Reiki actually mean? Let’s break it down. ‘Reiki’ is a Japanese word, made up of two components:

*Rei (pronounced ‘ray’) - Universal, Divinely guided, Spiritual Wisdom, Higher Power, All-knowing, Sacred, Present everywhere at the same time.  This acknowledges the fact that Reiki comes from a Higher Power. This energy source can never be depleted.

*Ki (pronounced ‘key’) - Life Force, Vital Energy, Breath. This is the energy of life. It connects all living things.

Together, Reiki translates as: Universal Life Force Energy. Reiki is an ancient healing energy. It is the energy that exists all around us. It is as ancient as the Universe.

Using my hands, Reiki flows to you to create balance in the flow of life-energy around the mind, body and spirit, to promote healing. It works on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.   It is a natural non-invasive energy technique that can be harnessed to reduce stress, promote relaxation, ease anxiety, boost immunity and assist in pain-relief as well as promote clarity of thinking.

For more information contact Sam by email blackberrycad@icloud.com, or Tel: 0774 227 5052.

Wild Wellness Health Coach

(Gazebo 6)

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be joining the Keynsham Festival Wellbeing Village for the first time this year!

My name is Stacey, a fully qualified and insured Naturopathic, Holistic Health Coach for women. I help to unleash the Wild Woman Within, by taking her back to her ancestral roots. A time when women were running wild and free, and living off what nature had to offer them to thrive, and gaining a deeper connection to her mind, body and spirit.

Wild Wellness Health Coach (1)

I specialise in women’s hormonal and mental health. Having menstrual cycles can become complicated, as well as going through many other different hormone changes like fertility pregnancy and menopause, which can all take a toll on mental wellbeing too. This can include symptoms such as skin problems, poor sleep, weight loss/gain, poor mental health, stress and much more.

So, what is a holistic health coach?

Away with the fad dieting and extreme exercises! I look at the constitution, history, and lifestyle of each individual person, and instead integrate the 5 pillars of Health: Exercise and Movement, Nutrition and Diet, Sleep, Mindfulness, Connection and Relationships. I work with you to help set up your health and life goals that are achievable and work for you, using natural approaches. Health coaches play an important role in the NHS sector, to support patients to live happier and healthier lives.

So come and find me for more information on how I can empower you to achieve optimum health, in a safe place where you can share your health experiences with no judgement with a free health consultation, or contact me for your free discovery call today .

I can't wait to meet you all!

Shelley Prior

Shelley Prior

(Small top, 15.00pm & 17.00pm)

Hi, I'm Shelley and I'm a musician and Sound Therapist.

About the instruments

The vibrations and frequencies of the Nepalese chakra bowls, the Nepalese Wind Gong and the other instruments can lead you into a deeply restorative state. Each bowl is related to a different chakra in the body and has a resonant fundamental note plus higher harmonic notes which sing through and interact with the frequencies around them. The gong has a wide range of sounds and vibrations - the sounds are not always what you would expect from a gong!

About Sound Therapy

We spend much of our lives in a very logical and active Beta brain state. When we are surrounded by the frequencies of these instruments, our brains find a way to surrender and this leads us into more relaxed Alpha brainwaves and then also to Theta. In Theta we are in a deeply meditative state where we have the possibility to lower stress and anxiety, access creativity and mental clarity and heal on an emotional and physical level.

What can Sound Therapy help us with?

  • Reduces stress through deep relaxation and endorphin release.
  • Can help with deeper and better sleep at night.
  • Chakra balancing.
  • Can help to free emotional traumas which are locked within the subconscious mind.
  • Can give relief from headaches, fatigue, insomnia and emotional imbalances.
  • The deep relaxation of the body experienced in sound healing can bring relief to digestive disorders.
  • This deep relaxation can also activate the self healing mechanisms in the body.

I run regular Gong Baths in the Chocolate Quarter in Keynsham and take past in retreats around the Bristol and Bath area.

My name is Emma and I am a qualified Level 5 Reflexologist registered with and a member of the Association of Reflexologists.

My background is nursing for the past 22 years.  I am passionate about the health and wellbeing of people and I believe complementary therapies such as reflexology can hugely benefit the mind and body bringing a natural equilibrium.  Having this passion for peoples health and wellbeing, having reflexology myself and feeling the benefits of it for my mind and body I decided to embark on a reflexology diploma.

Reflexology creates relaxation physically and mentally, reducing stress levels, helping to release tension, promote wellbeing, improve mood and supports conditions of the mind and body.  It is a gentle treatment where pressure is applied to certain areas of the hands or feet helping to unblock any blockages of the organs, joints and glands of the body.

My qualification also includes reflexology for fertility, pregnancy, post pregnancy and palliative care and hand reflexology.

Find me Emma’s Sanctuary Reflexology where I will be giving free 15-minute taster sessions of hand reflexology.

Tropic

(Gazebo 7)

Hi, I’m Emma, an independent Tropic Ambassador.

I’m looking forward to being able to share Tropic’s amazing skincare products with you and offer pampering hand treatments and skin care advice in the wellbeing village.

I have always had sensitive dry skin and growing up always copied my Mum’s routine and love of a body lotion. I became more aware of protecting my skin from the sun as a teen and remember trying to find face products that contained an SPF that didn’t sting! This then developed into a passion to find all over body protection when my Mum was diagnosed with skin cancer. My podiatry career in the NHS is very much focused on skin and nail care and I have seen many patients over the years suffering with skin conditions which can be very hard to manage and really effect peoples confidence.

Tropic

I became a Mum myself in 2021 and I began to look at more of the ingredients that were in my family’s products and the sustainability options available.

I found Tropic through a friend a year ago and have found a brand that freshly makes its products in the UK, with nutritious natural ingredients that are effective. This is supported by an amazing team whose aim is to protect the planet and supports good causes.

Come and visit me to hear more about Tropic and their infinite purpose, sample and chat about the products they offer, order any products or book in a date and I’ll come and pamper you at home with some friends. Or shop online at my webshop https://www.tropicskincare.com/emmajackson or find me on Instagram @emma.loves.tropic for more information.

You will find Tropic in a gazebo in the wellbeing village.
