Davies & Way Bandstand Stage
THE KEYNSHAM BRASS BAND
The band currently consists of approximately 25 players with ages ranging from 16 to 60+, these players being drawn from many different background. There is a core of approximately 15 players who have been with the band for over 20 years, and some of these having been in the band sinces its re-formation in 1980. Many of the players are former pupils of Broadlands school and/or former members of the former Avon County Youth Brass Band.
Upbeat acoustic rock! Jad Reza combines 50s style rock an’ roll vocals with lively guitar arrangements to create short, playful and varied songs about personal experiences and observations.
WE are looking forward to this – the first time for some while that we have a young Keynsham band:
THE IDLE SILENCE
An indie/alternative-rock band from Somerset, nominally based in Taunton. Martyn Edwards, James Haldane, Phil Russell and Jay Parr formed the band in 2018 and very quickly enjoyed radio play with their first recordings in the UK, USA & Australia.
MIREILLE MATHLENER BAND
Netherlands born, Bristol based artist Mireille Mathlener has a growing reputation for striking songs with a real captivating, narrative quality and has been compared to the likes of Neil Young and Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders).
Maaike Siegerist, a Festival regular in recent years, performs sunny jazz songs from her new album, Little Dutch Songbook.
With “a voice smoother than Dutch chocolate,” she blends classic jazz with a bit of Tom Waits. The songs tell of cider-fuelled nights at Bristol’s Old Duke, take you to New York and China, and celebrate legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.
The group, featuring ex-Blue Aeroplane Shaun McCrindle (vocals and guitar), Jonathan Westrup (piano and vocals) James Anderson (double bass) and Jamie Hill (drums) combine classic singer-songwriter, folk, rock, and country blues influences to create a soulful and uniquely English brand of American.
Harri Mason is a Bristol born singer-songwriter and she has been writing music since the age of 14. With influences like Bruce Springsteen and Fleetwood Mac, Harri is able to curate a niche within Pop Rock and Folk that speaks to various audiences.
